ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Exploding for eight runs in the top of the ninth inning, the CSU baseball team turned the tables in a 10-6 win over UNC Asheville on Friday. Facing a four-run deficit in their last at-bats, the Buccaneers got home runs from junior Mark Perry and freshman Tom Burkett in the inning to fuel the come-from-behind victory.

The CSU Lady Buccaneers battled throughout and offered up a valiant rally in Friday’s elimination game, but their efforts would not be enough as the Bucs saw their season come to a close with a 5-3 loss to the Liberty Lady Flames at the 2008 Big South Championships in Rock Hill, S.C.

ATHENS, Ga. – Sophomore Katrin Rumpf improved on her first-round score by three strokes while leading the CSU women’s golf team to a total score of 315 on Friday. The Lady Buccaneers are in 18th place overall at 624 (+48), two spots ahead of their 20th seed entering the regional. Rumpf is in a tie for 40th place overall, posting a 75 to give her a 153 (+9) for the event.

Two Big South teams with identical league records will square off this weekend when the CSU baseball team takes on UNC Asheville for a three-game conference series. With just two weekends remaining before the Big South Conference tournament, this weekend's series will be crucial to both team's seeding. The showdown will begin with a 3 p.m game on Friday, continue with another 3 p.m. contest on Saturday and conlude with a 1 p.m. match up on Sunday.
